Duty Drawback refers to a refund of 99% of the duties, fees and/or taxes collected on imported merchandise because certain legal or regulatory requirements have been met. To qualify for drawback, an importation of merchandise and subsequent exportation or destruction of merchandise must occur.
Many companies are unaware of the potential cash refunds available to them through the duty drawback process administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Companies spend thousands, even millions of dollars annually to minimize or recover federal income taxes from the Internal Revenue Service. These same companies often neglect the possible additional income available from duty drawback.
